Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SnapShot browser extension and services provided by SnapShot Inc. ("SnapShot," "we," "our," or "us"). By using our services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using SnapShot, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our services.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or 13 in the US) to use SnapShot. By using our services, you represent that you meet these age requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. Service Description
SnapShot provides a browser extension that enables you to create and store snapshots of public social media posts for personal archival, research, journalistic, or professional purposes.
Core Features
- Pixel-perfect snapshot creation of public social media posts
- Cloud storage of snapshot images (PNG) and post metadata
- Search and organizational tools (tags, filters, date ranges)
- Cross-device access via web dashboard
- Data export capabilities (JSON, CSV formats)
- Google OAuth authentication (no password storage)
Data Storage
Snapshot images are stored on Cloudflare R2, and post text/metadata is stored in PostgreSQL (Fly.io). OAuth tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Snapshot content is not encrypted in storage. See our Privacy Policy for details.
SnapShot preserves public content that was already posted on social media. We do not collect private messages or non-public content.
Service Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice (30 days minimum) for material changes that negatively impact functionality.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To use SnapShot, you must create an account using Google OAuth 2.0. We collect:
- Email address (from your Google account)
- Display name (optional, from your Google profile)
- Profile photo URL (optional, from your Google profile)
We do NOT store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Google OAuth.
3.2 Account Security
Your Responsibilities
- Google Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account
- Account Activity: You are responsible for all activities that occur under your SnapShot account
- Unauthorized Access: Notify us immediately at security@snapshot.so if you suspect unauthorized access
- Accurate Information: Provide accurate and complete information during registration
3.3 Account Tiers

4. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use SnapShot only for lawful purposes. You may NOT:
Prohibited Activities
- Violate any laws or regulations
- Infringe intellectual property rights
- Store illegal content (CSAM, terrorism-related content, etc.)
- Harass, threaten, or harm others
- Distribute malware or viruses
- Attempt unauthorized access to our systems
- Use the service for spam or phishing
Technical Restrictions
- Reverse engineer the service or extension
- Bypass rate limits or snapshot quotas
- Use automated scraping or bulk capture tools
- Interfere with service operation or infrastructure
- Resell or redistribute access without authorization
- Create multiple free accounts to bypass limits
Enforcement
Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in:
- Warning notice and request to cease prohibited activity
- Temporary suspension of account access
- Permanent account termination without refund
- Legal action (if applicable)
- Reporting to law enforcement for illegal content
5. User Content and Ownership
5.1 Your Content
You retain all ownership rights to the snapshots, tags, and other content you create through SnapShot ("User Content"). We do not claim any ownership over your saved snapshots or associated metadata.
5.2 License Grant
By using SnapShot, you grant us a limited license to:
- Store your snapshots on our infrastructure (Cloudflare R2, Fly.io PostgreSQL)
- Transmit your content between your devices and our servers
- Create backup copies for disaster recovery
- Process your content to provide service features (search indexing, thumbnail generation)
Important: This license is limited to technical service provision. We will not use your snapshots for advertising, training AI models (without consent), or any purpose beyond service delivery.
5.3 Copyright Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to save and store content. SnapShot is designed for preserving public content that was already posted on social media platforms.
Saving copyrighted material may be subject to fair use doctrine or applicable laws. SnapShot is intended for personal archival, research, journalism, and professional use, not mass redistribution or commercial exploitation.
5.4 DMCA Compliance
We comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe content stored by a user violates your copyright:
- Email legal@snapshot.so with details
- Include: your contact info, description of copyrighted work, identification of infringing content, good faith statement
- We will investigate and take appropriate action, including potential removal and account termination for repeat infringers
6. Payments and Subscriptions
6.1 Pricing
Current pricing is available at snapshot.so/pricing. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. Price changes do not affect active subscription periods.
6.2 Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms. We do not store your payment information. It is handled entirely by Stripe.
- One-Time Purchase: Snapshot quotas (Pro: 1,000 | Power: 10,000)
- No Auto-Renewal: One-time purchases do not automatically renew
- Payment Methods: Credit card, debit card, or other Stripe-supported methods
6.3 Refund Policy
30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
If you're not satisfied with SnapShot, contact us within 30 days of your purchase for a full refund. After 30 days, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.
No Refunds For:
- Account termination due to Terms violations
- Accounts with significant usage (e.g., used 900+ of 1,000 quota)
- Requests made more than 60 days after purchase (except where required by law)
6.4 Taxes
All fees are exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for paying all applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax, etc.). We will collect taxes if required by law.
7. Termination
7.1 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time from account settings or by contacting support. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days (see our Privacy Policy for details).
7.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy
- Engage in fraudulent activity or payment disputes
- Store illegal content (CSAM, terrorism-related materials)
- Use the service in a manner that harms SnapShot, our infrastructure, or other users
- Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
Notice: We will provide reasonable notice (7 days) before termination unless immediate action is required for legal, security, or abuse reasons.
7.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your access to the service will cease immediately
- You will have 30 days to export your data before permanent deletion
- After 30 days, all snapshots and metadata will be permanently deleted
- Fees paid are generally non-refundable (except as required by law or our refund policy)
8. Warranties and Disclaimers
Disclaimer of Warranties
RECEIPTX IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We Do Not Warrant That:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times
- Defects will be corrected promptly or at all
- The service is free from viruses, security vulnerabilities, or harmful components
- Snapshots will be preserved indefinitely (hardware failures, data corruption, etc. can occur)
- The service will meet your specific requirements or use case
Data Backup Responsibility
While we implement robust backup procedures (multiple redundant copies, disaster recovery plans), you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of critically important data. We strongly recommend regular exports of your snapshots using our data export feature.
9. Limitation of Liability
Limited Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RECEIPTX SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:
- Your use or inability to use the service
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss
- Any conduct or content of third parties
Maximum Liability Cap
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of:
- The amount you paid to SnapShot in the 12 months before the claim arose, OR
- $100 USD
Jurisdictional Limitations
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In such jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SnapShot, its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees and legal costs) arising out of or related to:
- Your use or misuse of the service
- Your violation of these Terms or applicable laws
- Your violation of any rights of another party (copyright, privacy, publicity, etc.)
- Your User Content (snapshots, tags, metadata)
- Your negligence or willful misconduct
11. Dispute Resolution
11.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at legal@snapshot.so to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We commit to good faith efforts to resolve disputes within 60 days.
11.2 Arbitration Agreement
If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), rather than in court.
Arbitration Terms
- Location: San Francisco, CA (or your location for claims under $10,000)
- Costs: We will pay arbitration fees for claims under $10,000
- Class Action Waiver: You agree to arbitrate disputes individually, not as a class action, mass action, or consolidated proceeding
- Opt-Out: You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of accepting these Terms by emailing legal@snapshot.so
11.3 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
11.4 Exceptions to Arbitration
Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for:
- Intellectual property disputes (copyright, trademark infringement)
- Breaches of confidentiality or data security
- Small claims court matters (under $10,000)
12. General Provisions
12.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any supplemental agreements (e.g., Enterprise agreements), constitute the entire agreement between you and SnapShot regarding the service.
12.2 Modifications
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via:
- Email (to your account email)
- In-app notification in the extension
- Website announcement at snapshot.so
Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with changes, you may terminate your account before the effective date.
12.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
12.4 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
12.5 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction (e.g., in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale).
12.6 Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including: natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of government, pandemics, internet outages, third-party infrastructure failures, or cyber attacks.
